Cutek has been around since the late 80's and is an Australian Owned Company, that makes all of their products right here in Queensland, at Loganholme. Their products are perfect to protect your capital investment, with simple and easy to apply directions it makes it "THE PRODUCT" to use.

Cutek's products have been tried and tested in our Aussie conditions to cope with the gruelling heat that Queensland endures and the cold temperatures that can be felt in some of Australia's most frosty locations.

Step 1a. Colour, Colour, Colour.

Sample Test Pot

First and foremost, the hardest decision you can make with your decking oil choice, is the colour. Cutek have 16 different colours to choose from. So you have to ask yourself the following;

  • Do you want it to look like natural timber?

  • Enhance the colour of the species of timber you have chosen?

  • Completely change the look for feature purposes?

All of this starts right here, with a Sample Test Pot.

The Colours available are:

  • Autumntone
  • Black Ash
  • Burnt Red
  • Chestnut
  • Goldtone
  • Grey Mist
  • New Bronze
  • Rustic Gold
  • Sela Brown
  • Walnut
  • Burnt Ash
  • Cedar Tone
  • Honeycomb
  • Merbau
  • Smokey Grey
  • White Wash

*We stock all 16 colour choices in both Sample Test Pots and Colourtones. Colourtones will vary on different timber species, please visit the cutek website to see the different colourtones on different timbers.

Step 1b. Repair.

If your decking timber was previously coated with a latex paint, stain, varnish, linseed oil, acrylic, and other film forming coatings that is flaking or still gripping to the timber, it must be removed before applying any Cutek oil product. Wood stripper can remove the build up of multiple layers and get your deck ready for either a refreshed or brand new look. This product is a powerful yet safe alternative to conventional strippers that use dangerous chemicals (such as methylene chloride, NMP, etc). It is also effective at removing coatings from metal, brick and masonry surfaces.

  • Coverage is approximately 1 litre of Cutek Wood Stripper per 3mof surface area.

OR

If your timber is greying/silvering and looking very dull and old, but the quality/structural adequacy of the wood is still sound. Cutek's Restore can return the wood to it's natural appearance and is effective in removing stubborn stains caused by tannins, water, iron, resins, mould and fungus.

Please note: If you are to use Restore, we recommend giving the timber a good clean, then apply a clear coat of CD50 to provide more stability to the timber.

Step 2. The Clean.

Cutek's Quickclean product is a powerful general-purpose outdoor cleaner that removes dirt grease and grime from all exterior hard surfaces. It will also help even out your Cutek Colourtone that has started to wear or erode unevenly on your wood, making it a great product to keep on hand for those maintenance coats and help clean up any accidental spill of Cutek oil.

Step 3. Oil.

Cutek Extreme CD50 is not a film forming finish, meaning it doesn't flake, peel, bubble or crack. It penetrates deeply into the wood to control moisture, and minimise warping, cupping and splitting. By applying Cutek Extreme CD50 you are improving the service life of your timber and lowering the required maintenance to your timber as there is no need for sanding or stripping previous layers before re-coating.

This oil also helps enhance the natural beauty, grain and texture of timber. The clear coat of Extreme CD50 will allow the wood to naturally silver over time but you can apply one of the 16 Cutek Colourtones to enhance and maintain the freshly oiled look or completely change the colouring of the wood altogether.

You may require a more heavy duty oil due to your timber being exposed to the harshest of Australia's climates. Or it's just constantly exposed to the weather and has alot of foot traffic. Then Cutek Wood Preservative is the product you need. It is an oiled based wood stabiliser, it resists damage caused by fungal decay, mould and termites. While also protecting exterior wood from moisture, improving dimensional stability and minimising warping, cupping, and splitting. It will gradually fade over time instead of peeling, splitting or cracking, like other similar products on the market.
